Work Experience

Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Biochemist in a diagnostic laboratory or hospital setup. Fresh candidates with relevant academic training and practical exposure may also apply.

Job Purpose
The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure quality assurance and accuracy of Biochemistry laboratory operations through monitoring of internal quality control records, LJ Chart review, CV% analysis, EQAS performance assessment, scrutiny and approval of Biochemistry reports, and compliance with laboratory quality standards including NABL requirements.

  • MD in Biochemistry
  • Candidates having exposure to clinical laboratory practices and quality systems will be preferred.
Key Relationship

Patients and Attendants, Laboratory Technologists and Technicians, Pathologists and Consultants, Home Collection Team, Front Office and Billing Staff, Quality Manager & NABL Coordinators, Equipment and Service Engineers

Main Responsibility
Main job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review and monitor Internal Quality Control (IQC) data
  • Maintain and interpret Levey-Jennings (LJ) Charts
  • Evaluate CV%, SD, and Westgard rule compliance
  • Review EQAS / External Quality Assurance reports and corrective actions
  • Scrutinize and approve Biochemistry test reports
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory results
  • Monitor analyser performance, calibration, and maintenance records
  • Assist in troubleshooting analytical errors and instrument issues
  • Maintain proper documentation as per NABL guidelines
  • Participate in method validation and verification activities
  • Coordinate with laboratory staff for smooth workflow management
  • Ensure adherence to biosafety and laboratory safety protocols
  • Assist during NABL audits and quality assessments
  • Maintain reagent inventory and quality records
  • Support implementation of quality improvement initiatives
Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of Clinical Biochemistry
  • Understanding of laboratory quality control and assurance
  • Familiarity with NABL documentation and compliance
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Basic computer knowledge and LIS handling capability
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain TAT
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in automated biochemistry analysers
  • Knowledge of EQAS and IQC interpretation
  • Familiarity with laboratory accreditation standards
  • Experience in report authorization and validation
