Work Experience
Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a phlebotomist in a diagnostic laboratory or hospital; fresh candidates with relevant training may be considered
Job Purpose
This position's main role & responsibility is to collect blood and other clinical specimens from patients, ensure correct identification and labeling, and transport samples safely to the laboratory with proper documentation, while maintaining patient comfort, safety, and infection control standards.

Patients and Attendants, Laboratory Technicians, Pathologists, Home Collection Team, Front Office Staff, Quality & NABL Coordinators
Main Responsibility
Main job responsibilities of Phlebotomist are as follows (but not limited to):
- Collect blood samples from patients using standard venipuncture and capillary techniques.
- Collect and handle other clinical specimens as required.
- Ensure proper patient identification before sample collection, especially in hospital and ward settings.
- Correctly label all sample vials with patient details, date, and time of collection.
- Decide appropriate blood collection method based on patient condition (pediatric, geriatric, critical care, etc.).
- Transport specimens to the laboratory maintaining sample integrity and TAT.
- Perform centrifugation of blood samples where permitted and required.
- Maintain proper documentation and sample traceability.
- Follow infection control practices, hand hygiene, and biomedical waste disposal norms at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of phlebotomy tray/cart and work area.
- Handle patients politely with empathy, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Support home collection services when assigned, including safe sample transport.
- Adhere strictly to laboratory SOPs, quality policies, and safety guidelines.
