Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms such as viruses, bacteria, algae, fungi, slime molds, and protozoa, while Serology focuses on the detection of antibodies in serum and other body fluids. Together, these disciplines play a vital role in identifying infections and guiding effective treatment.

Our Microbiology & Serology department is dedicated to delivering precise, dependable, and clinically relevant results. We provide exact etiological identification and antimicrobial sensitivity testing to aid in the management of critical infections. Diagnostic solutions are offered across all major areas, including Bacteriology, Mycology, Anaerobic cultures, Mycobacteriology, Virology, and Parasitology, in close collaboration with our Molecular Pathology division.

The department is equipped with advanced automation, including the BacT/Alert 3D, VITEK 2 system, which enables rapid and accurate identification of microorganisms from urine, blood, and a variety of other clinical samples. All tests are conducted by skilled technicians under the supervision of experienced doctors, ensuring accuracy and reliability. The department is NABL accredited, ensuring compliance with the highest standards of quality and reliability.
Our Facilities:
  • Routine cultures for TB, a wide range of aerobic/anaerobic bacteria, and fungi, with or without sensitivity testing, along with smear examinations and viral infection detection.
  • Advanced serological assays and rapid molecular techniques, including real-time PCR.
  • Automated Bact-Alert 3D for fast detection of Mycobacterium species.
  • Serological testing on state-of-the-art ELISA, CLIA, and ECLIA platforms.
